Ingredients
  

Brisket Preparation

  • 3 lbs beef brisket flat cut preferred
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika for rub
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder for rub
  • 1 tbsp onion powder for rub
  • 1 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce for brushing and serving

Sandwich Assembly

  • 4 brioche buns or preferred bread
  • 1 cup coleslaw for topping
  • 1/2 cup pickles thinly sliced

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your smoker to 225°F. If using a slow cooker, set to low.
  • Rub the brisket with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  • Place the brisket in the smoker and cook for 4-5 hours, or until it reaches 160°F.
  • Brush the brisket with BBQ sauce and continue cooking until internal temperature reaches 200°F.
  • Remove brisket from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice the brisket thinly and assemble the sandwiches with buns, coleslaw, and pickles.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, use post oak or hickory wood. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 8 hours instead of smoking.
